Named after the mountain that resembles an island within its waters, the lake is shaped the winding course of the Catawba River, which is dammed near the Mount Holly Wastewater Plant. Covering approximately 3,281 acres with a full pond elevation of around 647.5 feet, it boasts 61 miles scenic shoreline, making it a beautiful spot for outdoor activities and relaxation.
