Do you have a physical storefront?
No. iKayakCharlotte is a mobile kayak and paddleboard rental service and does not have a storefront. All rentals launch from the Neck Road Access Area at Mountain Island Lake, located at 5730 Neck Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078. Look for our black kayak trailer near the public kayak launch.
How does the rental process work?
Book online, then check your email for your customer portal and digital waiver. Please complete the waiver before your rental. We’ll meet you at the Neck Road Access Area in Huntersville, NC—look for our large black kayak trailer. We are a mobile rental service and do not have a storefront. There is no delivery fee for rentals at our primary Neck Road location.
Where do I meet for my rental?
All rentals launch from the Neck Road Access Area located at 5730 Neck Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078. We will be parked on the left near the kayak launch with our black kayak trailer loaded with kayaks. Searching only "Mountain Island Lake" or "Latta Nature Preserve" may take you to the wrong location. Detailed directions and your meeting location will also be included in your confirmation email.
Where can I go with the kayak or paddleboard?
Unlike other rental spots, you’re free to explore the entire lake! Popular areas include:

What is your reservation and cancellation policy?
We understand that plans can change. All reservations are non-refundable, but may be rescheduled based on availability. No refunds will be issued for cancellations, shortened rental durations, or changes to lower-priced options.
Reschedules and store credits must be used by the end of the current season. Store credits may be transferred to a friend or family member with advance notice. If unsafe weather requires us to cancel, a reschedule or store credit will be provided. No-shows are not eligible for a refund, credit, or reschedule. Thank you for supporting our small business.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major forms of payment. Payment is required prior to delivery.
What is the age requirement for renting?
✔️ Renters must be 18+ with a valid ID.
✔️ All ages are welcome to ride, including infants and young children.
✔️ Young children and babies must ride with an adult in a tandem kayak.
✔️ Tandem kayaks can accommodate 2 adults and a small child (500 lb limit).
✔️ A parent or guardian must sign a liability waiver for all minors.
✔️ Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. No refunds for noncompliance.
What are your hours?
Monday–Friday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Saturday–Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Reservations are recommended to guarantee availability.
Do I need GPS for kayak rentals?
Yes — please bring a charged phone with GPS. We provide dry bags to keep your phone protected.
Is there a rental agreement/waiver?
Yes, every participant over 18 must sign a digital rental agreement/waiver. For minors, a parent/guardian must sign on their behalf.
Can I bring my pet?
Absolutely! Pets are welcome. Pets must wear a life jacket (not provided).
What are the weight limits?

✔️ Single kayak: 275 lbs
✔️ Paddleboard: 350 lbs
The double kayak can accommodate 2 people and a small child.
