iKayakCharlotte operates a mobile rental service directly on-site at Mountain Island Lake rather than from a permanent storefront. Please use the exact address below for navigation:

Important: Please enter the complete street address into your navigation app. Searching only “Mountain Island Lake” or “Latta Nature Preserve” will likely route you to the wrong location.
All rentals launch directly on-site at the Neck Road Boat Ramp. We are located on Duke Access Rd (which may appear as Secondary Road 5588 depending on your mapping app). When you see the “Boat Ramp” sign on your left, turn left onto Duke Access Rd and continue straight until you reach the official “Neck Road Access Area” sign. We operate directly beside the water and do not have a physical storefront building.
IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION
Please park in the gravel parking lot only. The long, paved spaces are strictly enforced and reserved for vehicles with motorized boat trailers.
RESERVATIONS & ARRIVAL
Reservations are required to secure your equipment, so please book online before arriving at the lake. We ask all guests to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled rental time.
All rentals are self-guided, but our team provides a brief, complimentary lesson and safety overview before you head onto the water so you can feel comfortable and confident.
Optimal Launch Times
The access area is very popular, and parking fills quickly on hot summer weekends. We recommend booking an early morning time between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM for easier parking and calmer water before afternoon boat traffic increases.
Navigating Mountain Island Lake:
All rentals are self-guided. After launching from the shoreline, you can paddle through quiet, undeveloped coves along the Catawba River system or make the scenic trip toward the Latta Nature Preserve waterfront.
